LITERATURE

Talking Poetry
(presented by Open Space for the Word and the British Library)

Talking Poetry is part-workshop and part-discussion group. We will:
·examine poetic forms and start to think differently about the way we express ourselves
·consider why some poems move us and others don't
·whet our curiosity about language, line length, tricks of grammar and sheer poetic beauty
·sharpen our aesthetic skills

Talking Poetry is also a space where your poems could be discussed. Your work could be published in the poetry section of the Open Space website (http://www.openspaceindia.org) that seeks to foster change through the innovative and strategic use of media and the arts.

Talking Poetry is led by Priyaa Sarukkai Chabria, poet and novelist. She has been awarded the Senior Fellowship to Outstanding Artists for Literature by the Indian government.
Open Space, Monday, October 3, 5.30pm

PRESENTATIONS
Right To Information
Open Space invites you to a presentation comparing features of the National Right to Information Act and the Maharashtra Right to Information Act by Prakash Kardaley, Senior Editor, Express Initiatives, The Indian Express

The Right to Information Act empowers citizens to demand accountability  from those who have been assigned to govern on behalf of the people. Under the Maharashtra Right to Information Act, 2002, any citizen can demand information from state government departments and public bodies including the Municipal Corporation. Yet, many citizens are still not aware of the modalities of requisitioning information.
