Open Space invites you to the screening of 3 Iranian films on March 7, 8 & 9 at Open Space. The series will be presented by Gayatri Chatterjee, film scholar and author.
Children of Heaven (dir: Majid Majidi), the film follows the relationship between an impoverished brother and sister, Ali and Zahra, who are thrust into a difficult circumstance all revolving around a pair of sneakers. What makes the film unique is the way the children choose to solve their problem without telling their parents. What follows is a tender, moving tale of compassion, determination, and deep family love.
Open Space, Monday, March 7, 5.30pm
Colour of Paradise (dir: Majid Majidi), is a fable of a child's innocence and complex look at faith and humanity. Visually magnificent and wrenchingly moving, the film tells the story of a boy whose inability to see the world only enhances his ability to feel its powerful forces.
Open Space, Tuesday, March 8, 5.30pm
Taste of Cherry (dir: Abbas Kiarostami) the film emerges as a sort of spiritual road movie through the story of somber yet intense Mr. Badii and his journey through Tehran. The pace of the film unfurls in a series of encounters and dialogues that form its core, revealing the character not only of Badii, but also of Iranians and humans in general.
Open Space, Wednesday, March 9, 5.30pm
Screenings will be followed by discussions. Entry free.
