The Open Space Fellowships take the idea and processes of Open Space to different cities in India, where individual fellows work to stimulate dialogue, debate and youth/citizens' action on issues integral to their cities. The Open Space Fellowships are designed to nurture young civil society leadership in different parts of India, and to engage particularly with young adults from the urban middle class.
A call for applications is widely circulated by Open Space, and fellows are chosen on the basis of the relevance and innovation of their ideas for outreach.
OS fellowships have so far been completed in Kolkata, Ranchi, Lucknow, Ahmedabad and Bangalore. The dominant theme in all these cities has been the promotion of intercultural dialogue and cultural diversity, and the promotion of a deeper understanding of human rights.
