The QFest 2011, with the theme Being Seen, Being Heard was a huge success with over 200 people for the screenings and 250 people for the cultural evening (most of whom were young college students). Particularly heartening were the parents, family and friends who turned up to support the LGBT community.
Ek Madhav Baug written by Late Chetan Datar is one of the pioneering plays written on homosexuality and acceptance of gay community. The poignant play tells the story of a 21 year old young boy coming to terms with his sexuality.
Q Fest’11 brings with it a weekend of film screenings, theatre, music, poetry and discussions. Our theme this year ‘Being Seen Being Heard’ deals with understanding the LGBT community in public spaces, how we are involved with and how we can collectively contribute to that change. The consequential effects of this change spills over to alter much of how we see ourselves.
