Hi! I just wanted to post a reply to those who have commented on my article. (Sorry for such a long delay!) Neena, I agree with your statement and am always encouraging others to further their own awakening because it is tied to our collective well-being. In response to Aravinda, I recently learned the coined phrase, "cops in the head" during a Theater of the Oppressed workshop. We all have our own cops in our heads which "police" our thoughts and therefore, control our actions. I grapple with thoughts that tell me "get along with everyone," "don't get so upset," "they won't like you if you speak up," "your opinion isn't valued," and "the system isn't going to change anyway." These "voices" were a large factor in my jig of fully speaking my mind and silently doing what the system wants. To return to Neena's comment, I think that as I continue to journey towards my authentic self and unpack the fears which my society has instilled in me, I am able to better know myself. In that stillness, I do not worry about being liked. In that stillness, i am able to present my Self without fear. Thanks for the comments and for reading my writing!

    best wishes, Sarah

Hello Sarah, Thanks for sharing your experiences, they are quite interesting. You mention that you were "dancing a jig between fully speaking my mind and toeing the line." Can you tell us more about that?
