On Saturday the 5th of October, 2013, a group of approximately 33 individuals gathered at Open Space to view Accsex a film made possible by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust and Doordarshan-Prasar Bharati Corporation.
This was followed by an interaction with the filmmaker Shweta Ghoshand Natasha Taraporevala who is one of the women the film is picturized on, as well as its illustrator. The film follows the stories of four differently abled women as they negotiate everyday life and reclaim agency and the right to expression, especially sexual expression. The film brought up much food for thought and led to an intriguing discussion. Notions of what is normal and what isn't, the othering of differently abled individuals and the ideas of pleasure and desire were explored and talked about after the film. It is now available in the Open Space library.
