Mr Cooper was born and brought up in Pune going on to take a Masters with Literature and Aesthetics after a period at St Xavier's in Mumbai. He taught in the English Department for eight years at the SIES College. Going on to win a scholarship at the University of Southern California in Los Angles in 1980, he completed a PhD in Literature and Film there in 1989. Currently he teaches Critical Thinking, Humanities, and Film in San Diego Mesa College.Darius Cooper has published three books so far and two more are upcoming. In 2000,  Cambridge University Press published his first book on the Cinema of Satyajit Ray. In 2004 Seagull Books published his second book on the Films of Guru Dutt and last year Poetrywalla published his first book of poems Beyond the Chameleon's Skill. Om Books will be coming out with his first book of short stories shortly and Sage Publishers will also be coming out with his collected essays on Indian Cinema which have been published over the years.

Ashoak Upadhyay is an editorial consultant with The Hindu group of newspapers and writes a weekly column on public affairs. He was a Visiting Fellow at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics for a year till last September. He loves literary fiction and poetry. Also, he has a short story in an anthology on Indian writing (a satire on national awards) and a novel The Hungry Edge published recently.
