TALKING POETRY
Karthika Nair
Karthika Nair grew up between Assam, Delhi, Agra, Shillong and Trivandrum - the product of a nomadic life that is the lot of any army brat. She had initially trained as a journalist in Trivandrum, freelancing with The New Indian Express and The Hindu until 2000, when she left for France to pursue a post-master's degree in art management at ARSEC in Lyon. Since then, she has worked at various Parisian organisations like the Grande Halle de la Villette, the Cité de la musique, the Maison des Cultures du Monde and the Centre nationale de la danse. She headed the department of production and art programming of the Cité nationale de l'histoire de l'immigration (France's latest national museum) these last two years. She remains consultant on art programming there, but has switched base partially to Antwerp to devote most of her waking hours and sanity to choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's international projects.
