Hiro Boga
Hiro Boga was born in Bombay and has lived in British Columbia since 1976. She is the author of two books: a best-selling novel, Shahnaz, which was published by Oolichan Books in 2000, and by Penguin Books in India in 2002; and a book of poetry, Love Songs for a Tender God. A portfolio of her poems, Sarva Mangalam, has also been published in Red Silk, an anthology of Indo-Canadian women poets.

Hiro holds an MFA degree in Creative Writing from UBC, where she was a Graduate Fellow from 2000 to 2002. Her work has been published in literary journals and magazines, and broadcast on several CBC radio programs. Her short story, Sunder Ayah, was a finalist for the 2000 CBC Literary Awards. She has received awards from the BC Arts Council, the Canada Council and the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade. She is the Managing Editor of Oolichan Books, a literary publisher based on Vancouver Island, and has taught Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia. She has served as writer-in-residence for CBC radio, and has sat on both national and regional arts council juries.

Hiro lives in Lantzville, a seaside village on Vancouver Island.
