| A.K.Mehrotra was born in Lahore in 1947. He is the author of three previous collections of poems and one of translations, The Absent Traveller: Prakrit Love Poetry from the Gathasaptasati of Satavahana Hala (1991). He is also the editor of Twenty Indian Poems (1990), The Oxford India Anthology of Twelve Modern Indian Poets (1992) and Periplus: Poetry in Translation (with Daniel Weissbort) (1993).
In 1995, he won the Gettysburg Review Award in non-fiction prose. He lives in Allahabad and Dehra Dun.
