Mani Rao

Mani Rao (b. India 1965, r. Hong Kong 1993-) is the author of poetry collections Echolocation (2003 Chameleon Press, Hong Kong), Salt, The Last Beach, Living Shadows, Catapult Season and Wingspan . Rao's poetry, essays and stories are in a dozen anthologies and numerous magazines including Meanjin, WestCoastLine, Fulcrum, Dimsum, Takahe, Printout, JAAM, Brown Critique , QLRS, softblow, Nth position and kritya. Her poems have been translated into Chinese, French, German, Chinese, Arabic and Korean and she has read at literary festivals in Melbourne, Vancouver, Cairo, Singapore, Hong Kong and Chicago. She was a Visiting Fellow of the Iowa International Writing Program in 2005, and the 2006 writer-in-residence, University of Iowa. In Hong Kong, she has hosted a radio program on poetry on Radio 4, co-founded OutLoud, put up poetry in public space including cafe windows, art galleries and toilets. More on www.manirao.com
